An afternoon with T in the backyard

G and P went to see HP 7 part 2 today so T and I spent a relaxing (and hot!) afternoon in the backyard. We both got our swimsuits on and dipped in the pool. (Kiddie pool, that is!)


It's hard to tell from this photo but our grass is DRY!

Those darn ants. Must water log them.

Last week of this boy being 4. 5 just seems so much older to me.

Those are his new favourite toy, his safari animals. He plays with them and today they were sleeping and he was waking them up - with water.

It was very hot - we both did this a few times! Very refreshing!

And of course what summer afternoon would be complete without ice cream?

Looking back...

This time of year always has me reminiscing about when the boys were younger. I loved that time but I love this time too with them being more independent and being able to have actual conversations with them. Here are some pics of Gabriel from years ago...

That face has changd a lot but those beautiful eyes have stayed the same.

G's 9th birthday present!

G turns 9!

We celebrated G's 9th birthday yesterday, just the 4 of us. It was lots of fun and he really liked his presents. The highlight was his new ipod nano and dock so he can play his music in his room. Here are some pictures!

Notice how a certain 4 (almost 5) year old was not far away at any point in the present opening time?

Happy Birthday G! 9 years ago you changed our lives and we are so happy you did! You are awesome!

G's birthday party

G. decided that this year instead of a birthday party with several friends (9), he would like to go somewhere with one friend. So that's what we did! It was a lot of fun and he loved doing something like a big kid. Here he is waiting for the bumper cars to start. T and P came too and T did so well that he earned 678 tickets - that is A LOT of tickets!

They were really proud of themselves!

First, we took G and his friend out for lunch - G loved doing the games on the placemat - and his Shirley Temple!

Doing a party like this made me realize how quickly he is growing up. It was a great day. Happy 9th Birthday G!

Chillaxin' in the backyard

For our last day of vacation this week, we just stayed home, ate popsicles and relaxed on the deck and hammock. It was really, really nice. I am going to miss these boys next week when they are at camp. It has truly been an awesome week and they have been amazing!

Another swim afternoon!

We spent the afternoon at the local splash pad/wading pool on Wednesday. It was another beautiful day - not sure we could have lucked out any more with the weather.

I think this boy is finding himself a bit big for splash pads this year. He doesn't complain but I can tell he just isn't as into it as he was other years. The times they are a changin'!

And this boy will plant himself right smack in the middle of all of the kids, regardless of who is there and will start talking to any of them. It's so funny and awesome!
